Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight
I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight.
Shine down starlight,
Please help to make this our night.
The one I love will be here soon,
Please shine above and bring the moon.

Do you remember these lyrics to the song by Linda Scott?

Little + Co visited Reverse Garbage this morning. If you are unfamiliar with Reverse Garbage, it is a not-for profit, worker run co-operative that promotes environmental sustainability and resource reuse. By collecting high quality industrial discards, Reverse Garbage diverts them away from landfill and sells them at a low cost to the general public.

At Reverse Garbage, there are amazing resources to be had and Little + Co looks forward to purchasing plenty of materials from them for loose part play, art and craft, construction and deconstruction play. Reverse Garbage also runs fantastic workshops, including creative workshops for little people.

Little + Co particularly wanted to visit Reverse Garbage today because some special resources were available, namely – the stars from the One Million Stars to End Violence project were for sale. This project was a love and peace-filled community project. These beautiful stars are symbols of light, courage and solidarity to end all forms of violence, including violence against women, bullying and racism. You might have seen these stars in the installation in King George Square recently.

We thought the stars might look magical hanging from one of our trees. Admittedly we got a bit carried away after we saw how gorgeous the stars were, so we now have a plethora of stars and we are sure the children of Little + Co will use their imaginations to put them to good use! Lovely to support a social enterprise, reuse beautiful artwork and to reflect upon the aims of the original project.
