A local Brisbane artist has created these beautifully illustrated story stones for the children of Little + Co. Children share a love of stories, which create magic and teach us about ourselves and the world. Storytelling is a wonderful way for children to learn understanding, appreciation and respect for others.
Storytelling in a classroom environment has many benefits – it encourages active participation, increases verbal proficiency, encourages in children a willingness to communicate thoughts and feelings, encourages imagination and creativity and enhances listening skills.
Story stones can be used in many different ways to facilitate story telling by children. For example, taking turns to choose a stone and add to the story, sorting and ordering the stones to tell the story and swapping the stones with each other to tell different parts of the story.
These story stones illustrate a classic children’s fairy tale – can you guess which one? Do you have any other suggestions for stories that would be interesting to see as story stones for the children of Little + Co?
